Although technology sometimes makes me feel isolated, this weekend was an example of how technology really can bring us closer together. Although I'm half a continent away from my family, this weekend was full of picture sharing and face time. It's truly amazing that we can sit in living rooms so far apart and still feel a sense of togetherness.
The first three pictures are from Ben Pier, and I encourage you to check out more of his photography here. I can't wait to see what people will do this week, and I will try to be better at posting.

With the Peter Pan collar and back black packet, this shirt always stands out in the crowd. On this gloomy Wednesday, it was nice to add a little brightness to my outfit.

I apologize both for the lack of posts and the quality of these pictures. I swear I wasn't pissed off on this day, even though it looks like quite the opposite.
Following with more gifted and thrifted clothing, the shoes and light brown cover-up were both given to me recently. Although it's Spring, I really wanted to incorporate the burnt orange skirt and the leaf necklace. My next outfits will be more in line with the beautiful, sunny weather.

The life of any piece of clothing I own is usually about six months. When I first acquire something I usually wear it every week, and then occasionally, and then I look at it and think, "WHY?" That doesn't go for all of my clothes, some things have been with me for far too long, but I have a pretty frequent rotation in and out of my closet. The good thing is that most girls (at least the ones I know) are this way, and so I often have the chance to raid other people's closets! This outfit (aside from the bag) is entirely made up of gifted or hand-me-down clothes. What's your favorite outfit that's been gifted to you?

I've been waiting for an opportunity to wear this beautiful Modcloth dress that I got for my birthday, and when I found out that the famous Banana Stand from Arrested Development was coming to my area, I decided to seize the moment! The dress is super light, not exactly constructed well, but I absolutely love the fit. It was supposed to be a bright, warm weekend, but as you can see Balboa Island didn't get the memo. That didn't stop me from enjoying a Bluth banana!

I apologize for my absence! I recently returned from a long weekend in New York.
As a Midwesterner who grew up in a lower middle class family, there are places I assumed I would never go--either because I didn't have the means or because I wouldn't fit in. New York was on that list until recently. After visiting, I understand why people want to be there...why people never leave. It is truly an inspiring place.
Although I'm not back with an outfit post yet, I did want to post some of the beautiful things that gave me reason to pause today.

When I saw this top I instantly loved it because of it's deep orange color and cable-knit detail. It's strange though, because it's meant to be a short shirt, but it's also a sweater. If it's cold enough to wear a sweater why would I want my stomach exposed? I don't know. But! I love layering, so whenever I wear this I just add a color beneath it to compliment whatever else I'm wearing.
I'm leaving for New York on Thursday, so the posting might be minimum for awhile, but hopefully I can find some good stuff to share when I return. Happy Tuesday, all!

Since I can remember, I've heard women and advertisers talk about the importance of "The little black dress." And really they essential because they can work for most occasions. Dress it up for a date night out, or keep it simple for a day in the sun. For my day of sipping sangria and reading on the porch, pairing it with a thin silk scarf was enough for me. And of course, no outfit or sunny day outside is complete without sunscreen and Ralpho the puppy dog.

Although these pictures don't do the dress justice, this was gifted to me for my birthday! Straight from my ModCloth wishlist, I am even more in love with this dress than I thought I would be. I enjoy the gold and black leaf pattern, and the full skirt was really fun to move around in. I will post better pictures at a later date, it also has an open back that is not shown here. Happy Friday!
